The List of Bulletproof Users is Growing
You’re not alone! At one time, bulletproof technology was only available to police and the military. Now available to any law abiding citizen, the list of people using bulletproof vests and accessories in their careers and hobbies is growing every day. Many people don’t know the following….
1- If you’re a U.S. citizen, you don’t need a special license or registration to purchase or own bulletproof products. As long as you’re not a felon or using it for criminal purposes, you can purchase and possess bulletproof gear.
2- Licenses are only generally only required to export Level III and IV body armor plates to foreign countries or to sell them to non-U.S. citizens. Level IIIA soft armor bulletproof products are allowed for temporary export for personal use to nearly every country in the world.
3- There are no prohibitions in the U.S. for bringing bulletproof vests and accessories through TSA for travel at airports or metro stations. It’s recommended that you put your vest in your checked bag and don’t wear it onto the plane only because of additional delays and questions TSA screeners may have, but bulletproof soft panel backpack or bag inserts are also legal to bring on board and they’re metal detector friendly.
4- There’s no special training required to use bulletproof products. If it’s a vest, wear it. If it’s in a backpack or bag, practice holding or positioning it as a shield while you escape to safety.
5- There is no minimum age required to use bulletproof products. Children as young as preschool age wear backpacks with bulletproof insert panels. Bulletproof products are considered a passive self-defense technology As such, they are not categorized as weapons.
