The Gabriel Neck Collar started as a customized project for church clergy desiring greater bulletproof coverage underneath their religious vestiture. It soon became apparent that there was more a demand for the product by others not just in religious capacities. The collar was refined and made more lightweight and comfortable, making it more versatile for everyday wear and situations. Bulletproof neck coverage is becoming more widely used by police, military, security professionals, and others who work frequently with the public. Many everyday citizens who simply want additional protection will also find the neck collar surprisingly comfortable.
The neck collar provides crucial protection to the vital areas of the upper chest and lungs, trachea, carotid arteries, and cervical spine. The collar wraps around the whole neck, extending an additional 5 inches down to the chest, but sits just low enough from the chin so as not to cause immobility or discomfort. It’s comparable to wearing a turtleneck sweater and comes in the color option of white or black. The Kevlar covering is a nylon/spandex anti-microbial material that dissipates heat and wicks away moisture. Sizing is adjustable within each size range for the perfect fit. The collar is rated for level IIIA NIJ protection which is designed to stop penetration of handgun threats up to .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, 9mm, and .45 hollow point ammunition, as well as virtually every shotgun threats. The IIIA DuPont Kevlar weave is also knife stab and slash resistant although it does not meet a specific stab rating. The collar weighs less than 2 lbs and is made in the USA.
